Good Morning Union!
Happy Birthday today to Nicholas Dalton and Sydney Hall.
Congratulations to the Union High School Marching Band on an outstanding performance this past Saturday at the Lonesome Pine Band Festival in Wise, VA. The Band received the following awards in Class 4A competition : 2nd place-drum major, 2nd place-percussion, 2nd place-Music, 2nd place-Marching, 1st place-Color Guard, 1st place-General Effect, Division 1 Superior Rating. The band placed 3rd overall with a 2 point margin separating 1st and 3rd place. Matthew Rhoten was awarded the David Tipton soloist award for most outstanding soloist of the day.
The forensics team will practice on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week.
The Union wrestling team is selling Christmas ornaments to help support the team. The ornament is orange shatterproof acrylic with the bear head on one side and the U on the other. The cost is $12.00 and all proceeds go to help support our team as we travel and pay entry fees for our tournaments this upcoming season. The ornaments will arrive at the end of the month so we are taking orders now. If you would like one please let Mr. Gardner know and he will put your name on the list and will deliver them to you as soon as they arrive.
Juniors: the doughnut orders MUST be turned in to Mrs. Menneguin or Mrs. Lewis by NOON tomorrow.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we will again be selling PINK OUT shirts for UNION FOOTBAL. This is an annual fundraiser we do to support our local cancer patients at the SWVA Cancer Center in Norton VA.Shirts are $15. You must preorder and prepay. We have youth and adult sizes. See Nettie Ryan or Mrs. Blanken to place an order before October 15th. Out shirts will be on Navy and have Union in the Pink side of the Ribbon.

Time slots are now available to signup for the FAFSA workshops on October 17th and 18th. Please come by the Guidance Office to sign up.
If you are interested in being nominated for the Harry F. Byrd Scholarship, please come by the Guidance Office to submit your name.
Students, be sure to check out the TV across from the trophy case near the cafeteria for upcoming guidance events and information.
The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) will be given on November 8th beginning at 9:00 a.m. Please come by guidance to sign up.
Seniors: The deadline for the Slemp Scholarship is fast approaching. Your application must be submitted by October 15th.
