Good Morning Union!
Congratulations to the Girls and Boys Cross Country Teams for their 2nd place finish in the Region D Cross Country Meet. Congratulation to Brooke Vanover, Jacob Mullins and Nathan Hersel, for making All-Region.
Any Junior who would like to participate in the Dance Off at the Pep Rally, needs to meet in the Cafeteria after school today until 4:15.
The final marching band practice of the season will be after school today from 3:45-5:45.
JV and Varsity Boys Basketball tryouts will be this Monday at 4:00 p.m. These tryouts are for anyone not currently involved in a fall sport. You must have a physical on file to tryout. See Coach Moore for any questions.
All FCCLA members who plan to help decorate the Museum Christmas tree this evening, need to come to the Family &Consumer Sciences classroom at 4:00 for pizza. You will need a ride to the museum at 5:30. The tree should be finished by about 7:00 p.m.
Friday is Pink-Out at UHS. We are encouraging everyone to wear as much pink as possible. Be sure to wear a pink hat and pink socks. SGA will sell ribbons for $1 to wear hats, and we will be painting pink ribbons on faces. Let's show our support for the football team and for Breast Cancer Awareness!

Any and all students who wish to be a part of the high school swim team, for their school and in any capacity, need to meet Coach Edwards at the UVA-Wise pool on the following dates, Mondays and Tuesdays from 4-6:15 p.m. and Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6-8:15 p.m. before November 10th. The Beta Club will sponsor a blood drive at Union High School on Friday, November 3rd. The Marsh Blood Center will bring two donation units. If you are 17 and are interested in donating, there will be signups beginning Friday, October 26 at lunch. You must bring a photo ID to the donation site on the donation day.
The Union wrestling team is selling Christmas ornaments to help support the team. The ornament is orange shatterproof acrylic with the bear head on one side and the U on the other. The ornaments will arrive at the end of the month, so we are taking orders now. If you would like one, please let Mr.Garner know and he will put your name on the list and deliver them to you as soon as they arrive.

The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) will be given on November 8th beginning at 9:00 a.m. Please come by the guidance office to sign up.
Applications are now available in the Guidance Office for the Voice of Democracy Scholarship. This is open to students grades 9-12.

UVA-Wise will be here on Thursday, November 9th for on-site admission. The application fee is waived on all on-site admissions. If you plan on attending UVA-Wise this would be a great time to apply!
Mountain Empire Community College will be here on Monday. November 13th for on-site admission. The application fee is waived for on-site admissions. If you plan on attending MECC, especially December grads, please be sure to visit the reps from MECC.
If you are interested in being nominated for the Harry F. Byrd Scholarship, please come by the Guidance Office to submit your name. Please do so before 2nd block.
If you are interested in attending ETSU, we have information in the Guidance Office for Opportunities for Out-of State Students.

Good Luck to the Volleyball Team in the Region 2D Tournament semifinals. Union will play Virginia High at 6:00 p.m. at Marion High School.
