Good Morning Union!
Happy Birthday yesterday to Terrell Davis. Happy Birthday today to Noah Adams, Alyssa Rose, Sierra Hicks and Wesley Summers.
The Union Football team will host Radford, in the first round of the VHSL playoffs this Friday night at Bullitt Park Game starts at 7:00 p.m.
The Lady Bears Volleyball Team will travel to Radford to face the Radford Lady Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. in the VHSL state quarterfinals this Saturday, November 11, 2017.
Congratulations to the members of the Union Marching Band on an outstanding final competition performance at the "Sounds of the South" Band Competition this past Saturday in Logan, West Virginia. The Band received the following awards out of 18 total competing bands: Julia Sturgill received 1st place overall drum major with a score of 95; 2nd place overall percussion, missing 1st place by one point; 3rd place overall band; Em Poff received 2nd place overall outstanding soloist award. The Band received Superior Rating.
There will be a meeting for any girl who is interested in playing tennis, tomorrow between blocks 3 and 4, in room 119.
Band fruit orders and money are due to Mrs. Sturgill today.
The 2nd Disney World trip payments are due tomorrow. All-County Band permission slips are due tomorrow.
There were 37 blood donors at UHS on Friday, November 3. There will be a Bloodmobile at the Food City on Thursday, November 9. If you need details about Hero cords, see Mr. Cawood.

Any and all students who wish to be a part of the high school swim team, for their school and in any capacity, need to meet Coach Edwards at the UVA-Wise pool on the following dates, Mondays and Tuesdays from 4-6:15 p.m. and Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6-8:15 p.m. before November 10th. The Union wrestling team is selling Christmas ornaments to help support the team. The ornament is orange shatterproof acrylic with the bear head on one side and the U on the other. The ornaments will arrive at the end of the month, so we are taking orders now. If you would like one, please let Mr.Garner know and he will put your name on the list and deliver them to you as soon as they arrive.

Applications are now available in the Guidance Office for the Voice of Democracy Scholarship. This is open to students grades 9-12.

UVA-Wise will be here tomorrow, Thursday, November 9th for on-site admission. The application fee is waived on all on-site admissions. If you plan on attending UVA-Wise this would be a great time to apply!
Mountain Empire Community College will be here on Monday. November 13th for on-site admission. The application fee is waived for on-site admissions. If you plan on attending MECC, especially December grads, please be sure to visit the reps from MECC.
If you are interested in being nominated for the Harry F. Byrd Scholarship, please come by the Guidance Office to submit your name. Please do so before 2nd block.
If you are interested in attending ETSU, we have information in the Guidance Office for Opportunities for Out-of State Students.
