The Union Cheerleading annual Cub Camp for grades PreK-7th will be taking forms and money until Monday, October 7th. The camp will be at UPS Oct 15th-17th after school until 5:30. We are moving our dress up days to next week! October 7th-11th! Friday will still be spirit day to support our Bears Homecoming Game against Twin Springs! Homecoming Parade will still take place tomorrow evening at 6:30! Please share & help spread the word!

🏀🏀 Future Bears Girls Basketball Registration is ongoing! Registrations today, tomorrow and Thursday at Union Middle School Gym Hallway from 4:00-6:00 pm. Registrations are also Sunday at Union High Cafeteria from 2:00-5:00 pm and then Monday, the 26th, and Tuesday, the 27th from 4:00-6:00 pm at Union Middle School gym. The league is for any girl from 2nd to 7th grade in the Big Stone Gap and Appalachia communities. Any questions, please contact Brandi Bostic at (276)275-0429 or Wes Slagle at (276)870-7519. Entry fee is $30 per player. Mulitple siblings are: 1 sibling $25 each, 2 siblings or more $20 each.

Please join us from 4-6 PM at UPS for our Back to School Bash this evening. Meet your child's teacher, food trucks will be available for purchase and free haircuts will be available. Title I informational meetings will be at 4:30 PM and 5:30 PM in the cafeteria to let you know what Title I can do for your family.

From our Food Services Department: The Virginia Department of Social Services will issue a one-time $120 food benefit through Virginia SUN Bucks beginning August 2024 to children who qualify. Children qualify and are automatically enrolled in Virginia SUN Bucks if they receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or an income-based Medical Assistance Program (Medicaid). If you are not enrolled in SNAP, TANF, or Medicaid you can apply and potentially qualify for Virginia SUN Bucks by visiting VirginiaSunBucks.com and mailing the application to: Virginia Sun Bucks c/o VDSS 5600 Cox Road Glen Allen, VA 23060. Applications will not be available until July 1, when the webpage goes live. The Application for SUN Bucks will require you to enter your child’s “Local Student ID Number.” Contact the school your child attends to get this number. If you qualify, SUN Bucks benefits will be distributed beginning August 2024 on a rolling basis and will be loaded onto your current SNAP EBT Card or a Virginia SUN Bucks card.
