This is a reminder that schools are CLOSED on Monday and Tuesday (11.7.2022 and 11.8.2022). We look forward to welcoming our students back on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.

Thank you Wise County Animal Shelter and Paw Plaza for hosting Eastside’s Paws & Claws Club today! We learned so much about responsible pet ownership and some careers that involve working with dogs/cats.

Any student who is 17 or older wishing to donate blood, please see Mrs. Sutherland in room 102 to sign up.
Our next blood drive is Wednesday, November 16.

Friendly Reminder 😀 Once a student misses 5 days in a semester (excused or unexcused absences), only doctor’s excuses will be accepted to excuse absences for the remainder of the semester.

Tryouts for boys basketball will be Monday, November 7 at 6:00 PM.
You must have a physical to try out.
The nurse has physical forms if you need one.

FCS will meet today during one lunch in the library.

*Update*
Coeburn Middle School students are being bused to Eastside High School where they will remain until dismissed this afternoon. Parents are welcome to come pick up their students at any time. All parents who pick their children up in the afternoons will do so from EHS.

Congratulations to our amazing One Act team! We are so proud of you all!

Big Congratulations to our Fantastic Friday Attendance All-Stars! We are so proud of you Sundara Willis, Yasir Hilton and (not pictured) Jocelyn Aldrich! Keep up the great work Eastside!

ATTN : Juniors and Seniors- AWESOME OPPORTUNITY
Wise County Career Tech Center has been working with Mountain Empire Community College to develop a college course for ANY student considering a future in health care.
We are very happy to announce Health & Medical Science Dual Enrollment
Spring 2022
Blocks 1 & 2 at WCCTC
Grades 11 & 12
Instructor: Rebecca Slone
Students DO NOT have to be enrolled in or have had CNA to take this course.
Students will earn 7 Duel Enrollment (college) credits, with the following courses being taught under the Health & Medical Science DE course:
**HLT 100 (3 credits) CPR and First Aid First Responder - BLS for HCP CPR, Heartsaver First Aid, and OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens
**HLT 145 (2 credits) Ethics for Health Professionals - Legal and Ethics in Healthcare
**HLT 130 (2 credits) Diet and Nutrition
**Students will also participate in a rotational Job Shadow (Med Surg, ER, OR, OT/PT, Lab, Radiology, etc) during the course
These courses also transfer to satisfy curricular requirements in the following programs at MECC: Phlebotomy, Pharmacy Technician, Health Sciences, RN, Practical Nursing, and Dental Assistant. So the dual enrollment credit is definitely worthwhile.
Please let Kristen McReynolds at Eastside know if you're interested or you can email Jodie Bowen at the Career Tech Center at jbowen@wisek12.org ASAP
