Parents or Guardians of Students 5-11 years,

On Tuesday, November 2, 2021, ACIP and CDC approved the use of pediatric Pfizer vaccine for children 5-11 years. The LENOWISCO Health District is pleased to offer the pediatric Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for those students 5-11 years. The schedule is:

  • November 12, 2021 at JW Adams Combined School at 9:00 a.m.

Parents who consent for their child to receive pediatric Pfizer vaccine at school clinics are encouraged to attend the vaccine clinic with your child or children.  Children that are 5-11 years will also be able to access pediatric Pfizer vaccine at some local healthcare providers and pharmacies.

The Pfizer vaccine is a two-dose series.  The second dose is recommended to be given 21 days after the first dose. Two weeks after receiving the second dose, persons are considered fully vaccinated. Being fully vaccinated reduces the risk of disease, hospitalization, and death. Being vaccinated also protects friends, family, and the community.  If you have questions or concerns about pediatric Pfizer vaccine for your child, please contact your child’s healthcare provider.

Once fully vaccinated, you do not have to quarantine if exposed to COVID-19.  It is important for those 5-11 years to be vaccinated to help prevent the spread of the virus in schools, sports, and other extracurricular activities.  Wearing masks, social distancing, washing hands help reduce the spread, and now receiving the COVID-19 vaccine is an important tool to help prevent the spread of disease.

Common side effects from the vaccine include pain at the injection site, headache, muscle or joint pain, fever, and chills.  These side effects typically resolve within 12-24 hours.  Please review the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for specific vaccine information:
