Wise County Public Schools will operate on a 2-Hour Delay on Friday, September 27, 2024, due to the forecasted weather conditions. If any changes to the schedule are made, we will notify everyone by 8:00am.
Several grade levels are planning for some upcoming field trips. This is a reminder that chhronically absent students will not be permitted to attend these field trips. Chronically absent students are those students who have missed 10% of the school year, excused and unexcused. We have been in school for 30 days so if your child has missed 3 or more days as of today, they are considered chronically absent.
Good afternoon! Wise JAMS is set to bein next week at L.F. Addington Middle School for students in Grades 3 through 8. Come join us and learn how to play the guitar, banjo or fiddle! Classes take place after school at LFA on Wednesdays from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Lessons are $15 per class or $150 for the whole semester. Tuition assistance may be available upon request. This will run from September 18th to December 4th. Free instrument rental is available.

September 10th will be the mid 9 weeks. School will dismiss at 12:30 and grades will be available on HAC by the end of the day.
L. F. Addington will be conducting a lock down drill during the school day on Friday, August 23, 2024
LFA will be conducting Bus Emergency Exit Drills Tomorrow, 8/22/2024. This will cause the afternoon buses to be a few minutes late.
On August 14th, 2025 LFA will be conducting a lock down drill.
Dental forms were sent home with your child. If you are interested in the school dental program, please fill out the form and return it to the school as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please contact the school counselor or nurse at 276-328-8821.
As you know, L.F. Addington recently partnered with Scott Lawson and Legacy Creations for his “POP” (Purchase Of Purpose) event during our orientation. This was a huge success! We realize not everyone was able to attend orientation and take advantage of this awesome opportunity, so we wanted to extend it another week to ensure everyone who wanted to purchase a shirt had the opportunity to do so. As a reminder, for every shirt that is purchased, Scott will donate a shirt to a student in need here at L.F. Addington. The shirts are $20 and both the order form and money can be sent to your student’s homeroom teacher by Friday, August 16th if you would like to help this worthwhile cause.

Parents/Guardians: Snap codes have been sent to your email on file. These are very important because it allows you to update your information in our system. If you did not recieve an email your child will recieve the snap code on the first day of school.

The Virginia Department of Social Services will issue a one-time $120 food benefit through
Virginia SUN Bucks beginning August 2024 to children who qualify. Children qualify and are
automatically enrolled in Virginia SUN Bucks if they receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or an income-based Medical Assistance Program (Medicaid). If you are not enrolled in SNAP, TANF, or Medicaid you can apply and potentially qualify for Virginia SUN Bucks by visiting VirginiaSunBucks.com and mailing the application to:

Applications will not be available until July 1, when the webpage goes live. The Application for SUN Bucks will require you to enter your child’s “Local Student ID Number.”
Contact the school your child attends to get this number. If you qualify, SUN Bucks benefits will be distributed beginning August 2024 on a rolling basis and will be loaded onto your current SNAP EBT Card or a Virginia SUN Bucks card.
