Friday, May 29, 2026 marks the completion of the second semester and fourth nine-week grading period. Students will dismiss at 12:30pm on Friday, May 29. Teachers may depart after assigned duties have been completed. We wish our students an enjoyable last week of the 25-26 school year, and a safe and restful summer break!

WCPS honors and remembers the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Throughout her career teaching 1st grade, 2nd grade, and Title I, she has dedicated her life to helping studentsβespecially struggling readersβfind their confidence, grow, and achieve. She was inspired by great teachers in her own life and her sister, an educator, but it was her passion for helping children succeed that defined her journey.
Her favorite moments? Watching it all βclick.β Seeing the lightbulb come on. Witnessing the growth, confidence, and success of every child she has taught.
She also acknowledges her work family that means the world to herβone that supported, encouraged, and stayed connected throughout the year, even through summer break, year after year.
With gratitude, she shares:
βThis is my entire life...Iβve been blessed. This has been such a large part of my life. I am very honored. Wise County has been good to me, and I appreciate everything they have done for me.β

Please be reminded that Wise County Public Schools will observe Spring Break, beginning Friday, April 3rd through Friday, April 10th. Classes and normal school operations resume Monday, April 13th. Kindergarten registration for the 2026-27 school year is available online beginning April 1, 2026 by going to Wise County Schools website (wisek12.org), clicking on Parents, 26-27 New Student Registration. For any parent who doesnβt have access to a computer or who needs help, please call the school for an appointment. The school contacts are listed below:

Children applying for Kindergarten must be five years old on or before September 30, 2026.
Parents/Guardians need to bring the following items to the school to complete their childβs Kindergarten registration:
*Certified copy of the childβs birth certificate (your child can be pre-registered without a certified copy of his or her birth certificate, but must provide it prior to the beginning of school)
*Immunization record
The child must have a physical examination within one year before entering school. Immunizations against mumps, measles, German measles, whooping cough, tetanus, diphtheria, polio, Hepatitis B, and chicken pox are required. Each school will have available the βSchool Entrance Health Form MCH 213 Gβ for parents to take to their childβs doctor/pediatrician for completion.
Parents are encouraged to complete the registration form and begin the registration process even though they may not have all the above required forms and documentation. However, all documentation will be required before your child may begin school.
