National Preschool Teachers Appreciation Day is observed each year on the third Friday in March. It’s a special occasion dedicated to recognizing the patience, creativity, and impact preschool teachers have on young children during some of their most important developmental years. These educators help build early foundations in learning, social skills, and emotional growth—often going above and beyond in ways that aren’t always visible.

Today, Friday, March 20th, Wise County Public Schools celebrates the amazing educators who inspire, nurture, and guide our little ones every day. Your patience, creativity, and dedication lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning, curiosity, and growth.

Wise County Public Schools will be closed today, Thursday, March 12, 2026, due to unexpected snowfall and deteriorating road conditions. What began as a delayed start quickly changed as snow continued to fall across the county. Out of an abundance of caution for our buses, student drivers, and staff, the decision was made to close schools for the day. We appreciate your understanding and patience as safety remains our top priority. Stay safe and enjoy the snow. ❄️

Our school maintenance team works behind the scenes every single day to keep our buildings clean, safe, and running smoothly for students, staff, and families. From fixing leaks and clearing sidewalks to setting up classrooms and responding to emergencies, their dedication helps make our schools great places to learn and grow.

Please join us in saying THANK YOU to the incredible maintenance professionals who take such great care of our schools and community. Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and we appreciate everything you do!
