Principal

Dr. Tommy J. McAmis Jr.

Dr. Tommy J. McAmis Jr. has a bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Virginia’s College at Wise, a Master of Education degree in administration and supervision from LIberty University, and a Doctor of Theology degree from Anderson Seminary. He is a graduate of J.J. Kelly High School (1996). 

Mr. McAmis began his teaching career at Twin Springs High School in Nickelsville, Virginia serving as the Head Girls basketball coach and Chemistry teacher for three years. He then served as Head boys basketball coach and Chemistry teacher at JJ Kelly High school and continued that position at Central after consolidation in 2011. He started in Administration at Central High School as Assistant principal in 2018 and retired from coaching in 2020.


Assistant Principal

Mr. Deventae Mooney

Mr. Deventae Mooney is a 2013 graduate of Eastside High School in Coeburn. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from UVA-Wise in 2016, a Master's Degree in School Counseling from The University of West Alabama in 2020, and an Educational Specialist Degree in Instructional Leadership from Lincoln Memorial University in 2022. 

Mr. Mooney began his teaching career in 2016 at LF Addington. He most recently served as School Counselor at Coeburn Primary School. Mr. Mooney also serves as Mayor of the Town of Coeburn. He became the assistant principal at Central High School in 2023.
