Maintenance

The maintenance department is responsible for the upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment at all of the schools in Wise

County, VA. The department includes a staff of eleven employees under the direction of the Director of Facilities and Maintenance.  There are four electrical/HVAC technicians, two buildings and grounds technicians, two plumbing/boiler technicians, one delivery/maintenance technician, one maintenance clerk, and one part-time maintenance technician.  Each school also has a custodial staff that is responsible for day-to-day maintenance.  Within Wise County, there are fifteen schools, numerous athletic facilities, several buildings on the central office campus, and many other school affiliated buildings.   Throughout the school system, there are well over one thousand HVAC units that are maintained on a daily basis.  In addition, the maintenance department orders and delivers all of the custodial, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and paint supplies.
